I have been contemplating my own version of this quilt...
from this book.
To that end, I've been drafting
and practice piecing. Oops, the center didn't meet up very well. Will have to work on that!
I made a good start on cutting pieces for the LeMoyne Star blocks. The beige fabric will be the plain squares and the large floral print will be the border. I'm hopeful I'll get a chance to start hand-piecing later this afternoon!
To keep me motivated and inspired, I'm linking up with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching.
So pretty! I know what you mean about starting new projects, but hand stitching project don't really "count"! LOL
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stitching and thanks so much for linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching!
I used the last bit of your pink a few weeks ago. I was sorry to see it go~
ReplyDeleteHappy yellow, Sharyn
Love your pretty fabric choices! that will be really lovely...Julierose
ReplyDeleteThis book is in my library too, and it has wonderful photos for inspiration. You have a little beauty going here. Starting a new hand-sewing project isn't officially ignoring the UFOs sitting around. You're just preparing to fill every free moment with the joy of stitching.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty fabric choices. Enjoy your day of slow stitching.
ReplyDeleteMy first hand piecing project was stars. They really aren't hard but that center is hard to stitch with all those seams coming together. Mine matched pretty well, but the seam didn't seem stitched tight enough, I guess I need more practice.
ReplyDeleteI love the pink and beige--so pretty! I am always starting new projects when I already have many others going, but I like having lots of things to choose from to work on.
ReplyDeleteWhat nice stars! It's peaceful to have hand work on hand because sometimes you just don't feel like using a sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt you are going to make! I think you're going to have a lot of fun quilting this one! The star is a sweet start!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I want to learn how to hand stitch something a bit more complicated for my next project and a mini would be perfect. Very sweet fabric choice!
ReplyDeleteOh you have to check out Fons and Porter for Lemoyne rapid fire star demo. I found it in a Quiltmaker magazine. You strip piece and there are no set in seams and the star goes together very quickly! Love your fabric choices too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Have you tried the inklogo? It prints all the hand stitching lines on the back of the fabric so you don't have to mark. I'm hoping to play with it in August once life settles down a bit.
ReplyDeleteI understand completely the hesitation to start something new, but it is nice to have a bit of hand stitching on hand. You chose such lovely and soft colors that it can't help but be a beautiful quilt.
